Terms of Service
These terms apply to your use of Velohood. This is a student project and these terms may not cover every legal scenario, but they outline the responsibilities of both bike owners and renters on the platform.
The platform
Velohood is a marketplace that connects bike owners and renters. Velohood itself is not the owner of any listed bike and is not a party to the rental agreement between users. Disputes between users are resolved directly between the parties involved.
Bike listing requirements
By listing a bike, you confirm that: the bike is in safe, working condition; brakes, gears, handlebars, and tires function correctly and are safe to use; your listing photos accurately reflect the real condition of the bike; you have the right to rent out the bike; and the stated price and availability are accurate.
Rental rules
By renting a bike, you agree to: return it in the same condition in which it was received; handle the bike with reasonable care during the rental period. Normal wear (minor surface scratches from ordinary use) is not the renter's responsibility. Damage beyond normal wear — including damage from an accident, broken parts, or deliberately caused damage — must be compensated by the renter to the owner. The bike must be returned by the agreed time, or any extension coordinated with the owner in advance.
Bookings
A booking request is not confirmed until the owner explicitly accepts it. Both parties can communicate through the in-app chat to coordinate pickup, return, and any issues. Either party may cancel before the rental period begins.
Platform rules
Users must not post false or misleading listings, misuse the chat, or engage in harassment or fraud. Accounts found to be in violation may be suspended or permanently banned. Users can report violations using the report feature on any listing or user profile.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the project evolves. Continued use of the platform after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
